We had a fantastic Christmas getaway at this hotel! The location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by peaceful nature and offering breathtaking views. The staff were friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The self-catering facilities were top-notch, allowing us to prepare our own delicious meals and enjoy outdoor dining. It was the perfect way to spend quality time with our loved ones during the festive season.
There were a few minor issues that we encountered during our stay. the shared toilets and bathrooms were not ideal, especially at night when it was difficult for certain guests, such as the elderly, women.

The new year party was okay and there were free drinks and snacks. the area was great, with easy access to the stunning countryside. We also enjoyed the fact that there was a pool table for entertainment.
The room was not well-maintained and the bathroom was dirty. it was quite small for four people.

We stayed in a Pod for 2 nights and it was warm and comfortable. The cooking facilities and shower area were excellent. The staff at YHA Hawkshead were lovely and helpful. On one night, we tried the food from their menu and it was simple but hot and hearty. We wanted to try something different from our usual hotel or rental cottage and we had a great time. We would definitely recommend giving it a go! I'll recommend this hotel.

Located opposite a beautiful lake and close to Grizedale forest, this hostel is perfect for trekking enthusiasts. the spacious camping pods are a definite step up from tents, with electricity, and they are clean, cosy, and affordable. the dedicated camping showers are powerful and clean, although only three in number. the stunning grounds are perfect for a sociable vacation, and kids love the place with a ball. the flat walk on the quiet road from the pub is refreshing after drinks.
The kitchen often runs out of mugs in the morning, which can be inconvenient for those needing a hot drink.
